"Art to me is a necessary escape from our complicated lives."
My goal is to share art that is a daily reminder of the simple beauty that can still be found in this hectic world. Inspired by everyday objects from life I attempt to capture their abstract characteristics in texture, line, and color. I paint in a loose rustic style, starting each piece with a plan and finishing with a journey of imagination.
After trials and errors, finding the right inks and testing with the often judgmental millennials I know, I added a magnet to each and found the right recipe for the whole process. These tiny abstracts will be available in my Etsy shop and I hope others share my love of the littles. If not, I am going to need a bigger frig!
Place these colorful tiles anywhere you want a little inspirational reminder. I feel art is meant to be shared and the words we say to ourselves, as well as others, really do matter.
The free moving affect of the inks brings surprises in each layer and adds to the organic abstract composition. "Key to Ideas" 12 x 24 on wood panel.
I am already looking forward to next year! Much appreciation.
We are on the third year of ART on the Farm and I am looking forward to sharing new art with visitors and inviting them to take a walk on the farm.
If I am not actually painting on a canvas, I am sketching, planning, or learning about art. There are so many sketch books around my house and in my car - it's crazy!
My loose figurative works are starting to show attitude.
My latest art has featured the dominate ones in the flock, the colorful rooster.
Alcohol Inks work well on smooth surfaces. I've been experimenting on how to utilize the vibrant inks in my mixed media pieces. Some experiments feel like play in the studio. Taking some of our brown eggs from our chickens, I removed the actual egg and added the alcohol inks. They are not little marbleized egg décor for the farm. Enjoy your day!! www.theresemisner.com
Bright colors and whimsical designs are what the latest "Retro Teds" are all about.
Visit Yamhill Valley Vineyards to see a beautiful art show featuring "Poppy Art" to celebrate their 2015 Tall Poppy wine. This is their 10 bottling of their Tall Poppy Pinot Noir in 35 years. I am excited to have two of my poppy pieces included in this special show, curated by Gallery at Ten Oaks. www.yamhill.com
Don't you love this time of year when everyday something new starts to pop up outside.
A giraffe and a turtle will tag along with Ted to the upcoming gallery show in North Caroline "Menagerie". Pieces from the Ted and His Bird Friends® series have been chosen to be on display in February.
Layers and layers of color is how I start each of my pieces. It feels good to get rid of the white canvas and build depth of color. Even if some of the layers are covered up, small bits show through for added texture and interest.
My latest work, Crazy Cooper, has been juried in to the International Society of Acrylic Painters Annual Members Online Exhibition.
Girls love to hang out with Ted!
I love to create art that makes people smile!
My girl in the white dress just shows up occasionally in my work. Now is probably a good time!
This is the second year for Art on the Farm and I am busy creating new designs to share.
My "Ted and His Bird Friends®" collection is growing.
I am having fun with my latest collection "Summer Blues". These rustic abstracts have a distressed rustic look in shades of blue, soft yellows and sandy white tones.
Time to visit the coast!
I recently started the first layers of a new abstract series Summer Blues. I want a loose rustic feel on these canvases with a soft palette of blues and sandy whites.
One of my favorite things to do is to unwrap a fresh new canvas. The natural wood and fiber smell is amazing.
"Storm Calming" 24 x 36 has been juried in to the LIVE Auction at Salem Art Association's 2018 CLAY BALL!
Excited to be invited to the 4th Annual "The Crow Show" in San Diego.
Happy New Year everyone! The first "Ted" is out for 2018 and features Ted admiring a big pink birthday cake.
The past year has been amazing! My Ted collection made people smile and many have brought him into their homes. I have met new collectors, displayed art in several shows and even had the privilege of having a my crow painting, "The Observer", be chosen as best of show in The Studio Door gallery in San Diego.
It's always an honor to be invited to participate in gallery shows. I am excited to be part of the Small Works-Big Talent show at Las Laguna Art Gallery, Laguna Beach, CA. My abstract piece "Unlocking Your Dreams 17" will be included in the upcoming show that opens December 7 and runs through December 29th.
Proud to be featured in the recent issue UNSPTOPPABLE with my beautiful daughter and her business
As I head in to Fall I will be creating many new Teds to share. Most of my Ted series is on smaller size canvas which make great gifts for someone special.
Any ideas for a Ted painting? Wonder what Ted will be doing next. www.theresemisner.com
Thank you ~ Therese
I love to challenge myself and when I get a commission request it often gives me the chance to do something new. Recently, I was asked to create an ocean scene and had a blast studying waves and visiting the ocean. Like I need an excuse to go to the ocean!
I am excited to be the featured artist at the wonderful Brownsville Art Association Gallery in downtown Brownsville, Oregon. The gallery is a destination to see many talented local artists. Stop into see my "Unlocking Your Dream" collection.
I love combining the old with the new. I have started a Western collection in a minimal color palette and a bit of a rustic look.
